The concept for this Spring shoot was developed out of a love of 1950’s high society elegant style, vintage crockery and a gorgeous colour palette, so this Grace Kelly inspired wedding shoot was destined to be pretty, fresh, floral and stunningly beautiful. Featuring pinks, blush, lilac & white florals with a light and airy feel captured by @Ailsareevephotography

The shoot was impeccably planned and curated by @sarahborrowsweddings with here romantic, detail focused styling at The Casterton Grange Estate @castertongrange, a stone’s throw from the pretty villages of Casterton and Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria, UK.

This beautiful estate boasts classic style with modern luxury. Designed by the iconic 19th Century architect Ewan Christian the estate has been lovingly restored to create the most perfect wedding venue. The main house featuring 9 beautifully decorated double bedrooms, while The Lodge House, The Stables Cottage & The Barn can accommodate 18 guests. There is also space for a marquee for 100 guests. The bright and airy orangery, the sitting rooms, the sweeping gardens and woodland transport you to another time.

The tablescape, featuring the prettiest, specially selected pink floral vintage china layered with white and gold accents, champagne coupes and embroidered napkins provided by Sarah @thevintageteaservice and modern gold cutlery by @whitehouse_crockery. Beautiful finishing touches on the table using blush tapered candles in white porcelain candle holders by @narrativehire.

The most beautiful embossed menu cards with blush calligraphy with soft, luxurious ribbons was enveloped in a floral outer package with a vellum sleeve. A unique flowing silk printed sign with the words "It was always you" created a air of romance - all created by @northernmadeco

The fresh floral arrangements and bouquet created by @seedandwild featured Chelsea’s signature natural and enchanting style, including Quicksand roses, café latte, blossom, spirea and butterfly ranunculus, tulips & lilac. The arrangements combined modern design with vintage style, providing a fine art, romantic feel to the stunning florals.

The table scape was the perfect setting for the elegant 4 tier wedding cake decorated with a modern sharp finish, delicate lace style royal icing and lace textures to compliment the two bridal gowns. Featuring Sally’s handcrafted, colour matched, realistic sugar flowers including ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus, tulip, cherry blossom & roses which matched the fresh flowers perfectly. Gourmet fresh strawberry & vanilla marshmallows and dainty iced biscuit favours also made by @sallyjeanweddingcakes adorned the beautiful crockery and vintage glass cake stands.

We created two gorgeous looks during this shoot, and even switched out the wedding cake tiers to create a number of slightly different looks and sizes of cakes. A small 2 tier and two 4 tier with different details.

The bridal gowns selected were perfect for this vintage themed wedding. We arranged two looks with both gowns designed by the iconic brand, Ellis Bridals @ellisbridals supplied by Keeley @edenweddingboutique along with a selection of timeless pearl jewellery, hair accessories and veil.

The first gown, “Ada”, named after the designer’s founder Ada Ellis with its classis delicate lace bodice and long lace sleeves, satin button details and a billowing ballgown of satin, reminiscent of the dress worn by Princess Grace Kelly 67 years ago, almost to the day, when she married Monaco’s Prince Rainier on 19th April 1956.

For the second look, the bride wore the Ellis Designs gown called “Wren”, a classic design with satin button and sheer fabric details above a glorious detachable bow to the back. This plunging neckline, long sleeves and beautiful silhouette created a stunning modern take on 1950’s chic fashion.

Two elegant 1950’s hair styles were recreated with a modern twist by Kym @wolfestudios_uk. To compliment the “Ada” Gown, the hairstyle was soft and flowing with a delicate white floral and pearl hairpiece to one side in classic vintage style.

For the “Wren” dress, Kym created a glamourous and elegant up do hairstyle, finished with a white floral and trailing pearl & wire headpiece. The long white veil was scattered with tiny petals.

The natural make up by @makeup_by_emma_askew was perfectly applied to give a pretty and sophisticated look to our bridal model @anitacannon12 who looked the epitome of vintage elegance.

All the suppliers came together to create an outdoor, romantic vintage wedding that could be recreated for today’s modern brides who adore 1950’s elegance.

RECREATE THIS FOR YOUR VINTAGE WEDDING:

Matching the realistic looking sugar flowers on the cakes to the fresh flowers really pulled the colour theme together and creates a WOW moment and talking point for your guests. They can't believe the sugar flowers are not real and the lace design that echoed the lace on the stunning Ada dress is also a way of pulling the details through your wedding. We love the traditional touches of gold on the layers of vintage china which was complemented with the modern gold cutlery.

Vintage china was made in so many pretty colours so the options for colour themes are endless.

Create your own Grace Kelly look with a long sleeved, lace wedding gown, timeless natural make up and a classic but modern 1950's hair style

Ask your cake designer to match the sugar flowers and design elements on your cake to the fresh flowers in your table arrangements and bouquet and details on your dress.
